Tom Garrett is a senior project officer at Southern Queensland Landscapes, a community-owned organization dedicated to connecting and supporting communities to take care of their landscapes. He has experience in natural resource management dating back to 2009, and a substantial part of his role is working as the handler for Rocky and Cooper, two English Springer Spaniels who have been trained as conservation dogs. Tom is skilled in client engagement and pest species management—which takes him, Rocky, and Cooper to many different parts of Queensland under contract for companies and councils detecting the presence or absence of pests. Their work has contributed to the protection of many endangered and threatened native species.
