Meet Marcos Bera Chova

September 4, 2023

Marcos Bera Chova is the manager of the reforestation on Mount Gorongosa in Mozambique, where he helps local farmers grow native trees to provide shade to the coffee crops they depend on.

Unlike most crops, coffee plants thrive in the shade. Partner farmers have planted 20,000 new native trees each year — these new trees are reversing deforestation, supporting local families, and restoring the Gorongosa watershed — and the coffee business is thriving.
