Love for Axolotls

In recent years, popularity for axolotls has soared — and why would it?! These bizarre amphibians have some of nature’s greatest regenerative capabilities. They can regrow entire limbs, eyes, and even their brains. Researchers study axolotls to advance regenerative medicine.

Today there are about one million axolotls in captivity worldwide, but very few left in nature. Conservationists in Mexico City are working to restore the native axolotl habitat to help “regrow” this population in the wild.
