Rios Pacheco is Northwest Shoshone and Kewa Pueblo. He is a Tribal Elder in the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation and serves as the Tribe’s Cultural Analyst and Advisor. Rios is dedicated to preserving Northwest Band (NWB) history, tribal language, and knowledge of ancestral land area. He is experienced in the traditional ways of the Northwest Band, including the use of native plants for food, medicine, and clothing. Rios is a descendent of Shoshonitch and Ticka Me Dickey, both survivors of the Bear River Massacre that took place in Idaho on January 29th, 1863.
